Side Fan Intake Or Exhaust
Since i have a liquid cooler they only put in one 120mm top fan because that is all that would fit.
Side fan intake or exhaust. If you look at coolermasters website coolermaster themselves recommend the side fan as intake hence the illustration half way down the page. The key therefore is to add fans that either get rid of this ambient heat or bring in fresh cooler air to be used. Intake fans brings fresh air into the pc while exhaust fans kick stagnant air out. The top fan is an exhaust and bottom fan is an intake.
Most people say intake however the fans i am using are 4x papst 100cfm fans with relatively high static pressure from what i can tell. And if intake fans have filters be sure to clean them often or the temp will rise due to the airflow being blocked by dust i have them on my antec 300 and clean it about every 3 weeks or so. Intake you want to blow the cold air on the card and since heat rises place exhaust fans at the back and top of the case to exhaust it. An aftermarket cooler however will not push out the air as much but rather push it all over the place.
Manage your cables and other obstructions. If you use it as an intake fan you ll only have one exhaust fan in the back and maybe one or two in the top depending on your case. As for their differences it s very simple. Generally it s best to have as few obstacles as possible between the intake fans on the front of the case and the exhaust fans on the rear and top of the case.
Reverse the fan in the top of the case to make it an extractor and make the side panel an intake. By the way i am using my fan as intake. I don t know what i am doing wrong but i can exactly feel that my gpu trying to get the hot air out of the case. Using two in the front one in back and one on side front intake back exhaust.
Side intake bottom intake back exhaust top exhaust this config has always been the best way to do the case fans. So the problem is i have a side fan installed right now. And they put in a 140mm side fan. The intake exhaust direction should go front to back and bottom to top.
I must add one thing. Additionally if your side fan is an exhaust you will be likely to generate a negative enclosure pressure and more likely to ingest dust into the system. Side mounted fans can be intake or exhaust depending on the setup. But my gpu temperature is getting worser.
I would think that the number of intake fans should be more than the number of exhaust fans like you said. I can barely feel that when i put my hand on the side panel. I have no other fans in my system using a haf912 case.
